Update: 2014 Preliminary Offers FAQs
- I received a preliminary offer email which said I am on a waiting list. What does this mean and what do I have to do now?
If you have been placed on a waitlist, this is because all rooms have been allocated to other applicants in your particular demographic and room preference. You don’t have to do anything right now except wait for the Official Offers on December 20th. Unfortunately it is not possible to forecast which applicants will withdraw their offers so it is unfortunately not possible to provide you with any information on the likelihood of you receiving an offer on 20th December, or in the subsequent 2nd round or 3rd round of offers. What we can say is that in the previous year, approximately 100 of the 950 offers did withdraw, therefore 100 applicants on the current waitlist will likely be offered a place on the 20th December or in the 2nd and 3rd round offers.
- I really want to be certain of my accommodation before next year, what should I do?
If you require certainty of your accommodation for next year before the final round of offers, we recommend that you begin to look for off-campus accommodation. If you do secure off-campus accommodation, we would appreciate you letting us know so we can remove you from the waitlist. We have an off-campus accommodation database and lots of information about finding accommodation.
